Compton, Calif. - Freshmen Josh Fischer and Adrian Valtierra both recorded a pair of hits each, but the Compton baseball team (9-20, 1-10) fell 19-5 to Cerritos (22-7, 7-4) on Tuesday afternoon in the conference series opener.
Valtierra and freshmen Anthony Gonzalez and Taylor Colvin all recorded doubles in the outing.
Freshman Jesus Lopez was charged with the loss after throwing 0.1 innings, making his record 1-5 on the season.
The two teams square off for the second meeting of the series at the MLB Youth Academy on Thursday, Apr. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
