Compton, Calif. - Freshman Kevin Smith earned the team's lone multi-hit outing with a pair of singles and a RBI, but the Compton baseball team fell 4-1 to Cerritos on Thursday afternoon in the second game of the South Coast Conference series.
Smith singled to right field in the bottom of the fourth to score sophomore Alexandro Rodriguez, who led off the inning with a single to left field.
Freshman lefty Andy Rosales (4-3) was charged with the loss after throwing five complete, fanning five. Freshman Danny Hernandez threw four innings of relief, allowing only one hit and adding a strikeout.
The Tartars head to Pasadena on Friday, Apr. 6 for a makeup game. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
