Grgas, Quintero Make All-SCC Baseball Team
Sophomore rightfielder Deegan Grgas and second-year second baseman Quincy Quintero are the Compton College selections on the 2025 All-South Coast Conference Baseball Team.
The two players were chosen to the Second Team by conference coaches at their annual postseason meeting held this week.
Grgas was third in the SCC's overall batting race with a .408 average to go with 15 doubles and 28 RBI, both team highs. Grgas also led Compton in hits (58), runs scored (30), on-base percentage (.485) and slugging percentage (.563).
Quintero batted .354 with 18 RBI, but excelled in the 24-game conference schedule when he batted .410 to top the team's SCC-only batting (Grgas was also strong at .400).
The two players were directed by long-time head coach Shannon Williams.
Recently, Compton learned that 13 players from the 2024 squad were selected to the California Community College Academic All-State Team. Of that group, pitchers Ricardo Rodriguez, Joseph Stangl, Ryan Bobich and Justin Bryant all were sophomores on this year's team.
