Burnett Named To All-SCC Baseball Team
Sophomore outfielder Amaree Burnett was the lone Compton College player to make the 2026 All-South Coast Conference baseball team.
A Second Team selection, the Coyote batted a team-best .333 overall and .373 over the 24-game conference schedule. His 18 stolen bases was third among SCC players.
Other Compton standouts this season included sophomore first baseman Julian Arellano, who hit .303 and led the squad in home runs (three), doubles (10) and RBI (21) while not making an error defensively in 189 chances in the field.
Sophomore utility player Corey Guy led the Coyotes in runs scored (27) and hits (39), slugged two homers, drove in 17 RBI, and stole 14 bases.
Among the freshmen, second baseman Jaidon Carter (.325, 15 RBI, team-leading .429 on-base percentage) and third baseman Devin Gomez (.319, two triples, a HR, 17 RBI) were standouts.
Compton's top pitcher was frosh righthander Gabriel Cancino, who hurled a team-high 65 innings in 16 appearances with 58 strikeouts.
