Coyotes Volleyball Looking To Improve As 2025 Season Evolves
The Compton College women's volleyball team continues to make strides as it navigates the 2025 schedule under second-year head coach Moe Scott.
The Coyotes (1-4 overall) are playing without their two All-South Coast Conference selections from last season, Victoria Sibrian and Aileen Lucas, who both decided to redshirt for the year.
Compton still brings back five lettermen from the '24 squad including outside hitter Pressure Sighn, right side hitter Sindy Hernandez, libero Brianna Mendez, and middle blockers Evelyn Gonzalez and Farai Orea.
Frosh outside hitter Samorah Fa'amasino (Jefferson HS) leads the offense on a team-best 21 kills with five aces while averaging 3.25 digs. The newcomer showed her talents in a 4-set loss to Chaffey on Aug. 27 when she landed 11 kills
Hernandez has 16 kills thus far to also pace the offense while Mendez is defending at a team-high 4.50 digs per set.
Another solid freshman is setter Jocelyn Herrera (Dominguez High), who is averaging 4.25 assists and 3.33 digs.
Andrea Machorro Granados is also on the roster as a freshman defensive specialist.
The Coyotes won't begin the 8-match, South Coast South Division schedule until October 1 at LA Harbor. Compton next hosts state #12-ranked Mt. San Antonio in a conference crossover on Friday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
