2023 Baseball Opening Week

Compton CA- The Compton College Tartars baseball team (1-0) opened their 2023 campaign on Friday afternoon when they traveled to Antelope Valley College (0-1). The Tartars won 14-7 which included 17 hits led by #8 sophomore Cristian Taveras who hit his 1st homerun of the season along with 3 RBI's. On the mound Sophomore Julian Bertini pitched 4 innings with 6 strikeouts to pick up his 1st win of the season. On Saturday January 28th the Tartars hosted the Knights of San Diego City College. The Tartars continued their winning ways with a 13-6 victory.

Crixtian Taveras (3-for-5) led the Tartars on offense knocking in three RBI's on the day for Tartars. Andy Perez (2-for-3, BB) got on base twice for the Tartars while also scoring twice and had one RBI. Sophomore shortstop Sevon Battle (2-for-4,1 SB), Sophomore 3B Roberto Bueno went (3-for-4) and Freshman 1B Jacob Pech went (3-for-5) at the plate. John Stangl (2.0 IP, 2K) got the start on the mound, lasting two innings and giving up no runs.

UP NEXT: The Tartars will be back on the diamond Friday February 3rd, as they play host to Irvine Valley College. The first pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
