The Compton College softball team finished a tough 2026 season with a 14-9, home finale loss to LA Harbor on Monday. The Coyotes did close on a strong note by winning two of their final four games.
Compton (8-31 record) placed seventh in the difficult, 8-team, South Coast Conference.
In the Harbor defeat, leftfielder Sarah Aguilar had a perfect day, batting 4-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored. Compton scored eight runs in the first inning, but Harbor would rally from an 8-2 deficit.
Pitcher Johanna Vidales ripped a 3-run triple, second baseman Avigail Navarro went 3-for-5, and the infield trio of shortstop Venezia Uribe, first baseman Celest Torres, and third baseman Cheyenne Prado collected two hits each.
On April 15 on the road, Compton notched a 10-3 win over Rio Hondo as the Coyotes plated five runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to break it open. Centerfielder Amy Duarte (2-for-4) and Torres both delivered 2-RBI doubles whle Uribe was 3-for-3 and a walk. Angela Banderas was outstanding in the circle, allowing just three hits and no earned runs in going the complete-game, 7-inning route.
Just days earlier, the Coyotes downed the Roadrunners, 11-3, in six innings. Duarte, who hit 3-for-4, slugged a 2-run triple and a 2-run double to lead the Coyotes' attack. Vidales, who was 3-for-4 at the plate, twirled a 6-hitter and struck out five for the circle win. Uribe went 2-for-3 on two doubles, leftfielder Valery Wilches was 2-for-4 with two ribbies, and Prado 2-for-3 including a two-bagger.
Outfielder Destiny Munguia was the team's leading overall hitter with a .361 average in 35 games while Uribe was the squad's top hitter in SCC play, batting .391 in 20 conference contests. Uribe, Munguia, Banderas, and Vidales all finished two-year playing careers under head coach Victoria Castillo.
